OUR HISTORY

In 1972, with the support of the Monroe County Clergy Association, Church Women United organized Monroe County’s first and only Meals on Wheels program. In October of that same year, Monroe County Meals on Wheels started delivering meals to 11 clients in Stroudsburg with the assistance of various county groups, including Visiting Nurse, AARP, MH-MR, and the Cooperative Extension Service. In 2021, while the pandemic was raging, our staff and volunteers delivered 135,000+ meals to more than 600 individuals living in Monroe County.
